Jason Baird is 25 years old and lives in Manchester UK. He started training in martial arts at the tender age of 5 and has 20 years experience under his belt. His parents lived in a rough part of Manchester and wanted him to be able to handle himself if he ever got into trouble so they enrolled him in Shukokai karate lessons at the age of 5. He trained at the Shinji Ryu karate association for 5 years and gained his first Dan black belt at the age of 10.
He then decided to move towards the more freestyle side of the sport and started to compete for a local martial arts school that was well known on the competition scene. He entered his first competition after only 2 months of training and won 1st place. Later in that year Jason entered the National Championships and came away with a bronze medal and the chance to compete for Great Britain in Toronto Canada. He trained as hard as he could every day of the week working on his leg strength, conditioning and all the relevant martial arts techniques needed to make him the best he could be, all at a time when he was really struggling with asthma. In November of 1998 Jason was crowned junior World Champion in his division just 9 months after starting training to compete.
He is currently 9x World karate champion, current ISKA European champion and has won countless English and British titles and is now a 5th degree black belt which is the equivalent to a masters degree. He has won major titles in both the junior and senior divisions all over the word. Since the age of 17 Jason has been running his own successful full time martial arts school and has produced junior British, English, European and even World champions.
